Be The Light held at stadiums across the area

STURGIS, S.D. – Area communities honored first responders, healthcare workers and the class of 2020 last night as they turned on stadium lights for 20 minutes at 8:20.

It was called Be The Light.

In Sturgis, a nearly full parking lot at Woodle Field watched from the vehicles as the lights came on and the Class of 2020 was honored. Making an appearance were two Sturgis ambulances, with lights flashing and sirens going, as, for a moment anyway, the virus that has caused all this heartache, was forgotten.

The time of 8:20 (20:20) for 20 minutes was to signify a message of hope to the class of 2020, who has all but missed out on the final 3 months of their high school careers.

Other schools taking part in the Be The Light campaign Thursday night included Douglas, Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood, Rapid City Christian, RCAS, St Thomas More, Hill  City, Faith, Hot Springs, Custer and Wall.
