STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Community Center will be the place for a debate between the two candidates running for District 29 Senate.
Republican District 29 Senator Gary Cammack is being challenged by political newcomer Kent Wilsey, who is seeking the seat as a libertarian.
Cammack, a Union Center rancher and owner of Cammack Ranch Supply, has served in the South Dakota House of Representatives and on the Meade County Commission for two years before turning his eye to the legislature.
Wilsey earned his aerospace engineering degree from Iowa State University and had a career in airplane design and rocket science. Six years ago, he, his wife and two children moved back to the family’s century old Meade County ranch where they do hydroponic greenhouse farming and raise black angus beef.
District 29 encompasses the majority of Meade and Butte counties.
There is no Democrat candidate.
Moderator of the event is Chastity Julson.
Collin Duprel is hosting the forum.
