City of Sturgis cancels its spring city wide clean up event

STURGIS, S.D. – The city of Sturgis says they are cancelling their spring clean up.

In a release, the city stated “In consideration of the current CDC mandate for 6′ social distancing, along with the inability to disinfect an abundance of surfaces that would require close contact with our employees, the Sturgis City-Wide Spring Cleanup scheduled for May 4-8 is canceled.

This was a difficult decision but was made in the best interest of the community. The City of Sturgis Public Works Department appreciates the help and commitment that residents put into this cleanup event. Our decision was made with input from local, state and federal agencies and guidelines and is in line with many other communities in the area.

Please look forward to the cleanup this Fall, October 5-9, 2020. Sturgis residents can take allowed items to the Rubble Site free of charge by showing a current utility bill.”
