Cress and Sundell share first place at PRCA Xtreme Broncs

Gary Matthews - August 23, 2019

RAPID CITY, S.D. - It was a tie at the top of the leaderboard at the PRCA Xtreme Bronc Challenge at the Central States Fair in Rapid City Thursday night.

Reigning World Champion Wade Sundell shared the winner's trophy with Brody Cress as the two finished the challenge with a 178 point aggregate on two head.

Sundell, a Boxholm, Iowa cowboy, was happy with the win because it keeps him at 15th in the world standings. That's important because anything lower than that is out of the money for the National Finals.

Sundell rode Burch Rodeo's 'Lunatic From Hell,' the P.R.C.A.'s Bucking Horse of the Year.

Ryder Wright of Milford, Utah scored third place Thursday night, scoring a 174.5 and South Dakota's J.J. Elshere came in fourth. Colt Gordon of Commanche, Oklahoma rounded out the top five.

CBS Sports Network was on hand to film the event, and they will show the Challenge on their network at a later date.
