David Paul Walker

David Paul Walker

- April 7, 2019

David Paul Walker was born on December 29, 1961, in Deadwood, SD, to Walter and Viola Walker.  David had 5 siblings and was the youngest among the six children.  He was raised in Central City, SD, and lived his entire life in the Black Hills.

He married Julita Aguilor on April 15, 2007, and together they were blessed with two wonderful children, Esther and Daniel Walker.  He was a godly, loving, and wonderful husband to his wife, and father to his children.  He had a strong faith in God and loved so much, his Maker, Savior, and Redeemer.

He attended school in Deadwood and graduated from Black Hills State University with a B.S. Degree, majoring in Industrial Technology, with a minor in Drafting.  He also graduated from the 3-year ministerial studies program of the Berean School of the Bible.  At an early age, he began writing poetry and published an inspirational poetry book entitled “If There Be Any Virtue or any Praise, Think On These Things” in 1997.  During his college years, he was actively involved in various ministries such as Selah, Chi-Alpha, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and B.A.S.I.C. (Brothers and Sisters in Christ).  He was also involved in mission trips with B.A.S.I.C. and Y.W.A.M. (Youth with a Mission).

David worked as a freelance journalist writing articles for five different South Dakota newspapers.  He worked in various companies, but especially enjoyed driving the school bus in the Meade County School District.  His main goal in life was to preach the gospel and to share the love of Jesus with others.  He was an Assembly of God Minister.  He ministered to Buffalo, SD, several Nursing Homes in the Black Hills, the Veterans Home in Whitewood, and Assisted Living in Sturgis with his family.

He loved his family and his church family.  He enjoyed being outdoors with them, going on vacation, camping in the woods, fishing, and going for a drive and for a walk.

David, 57, of Whitewood, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at home surrounded by his immediate family and church family.

He is survived by his wife, Julita; daughter, Esther; son, Daniel; brothers and sisters, Bill (Birdie) Walker, Shirley (Bob) Olson, Ruth (Bob) Alfson, Rebekah Smith, and Timothy (Sheila) Walker; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Viola Walker.

DUE TO THE WEATHER, THE FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DAVID HAVE BEEN POSTPONED TO THURSDAY, APRIL 11, AT 2:00 P.M. AT: Crossroads Assembly of God in Sturgis with Pastor JR Meadows officiating.  Interment will follow at Whitewood Cemetery.
