Department of Health reports 55 new cases, two deaths in Saturday report

STURGIS, S.D. – The Saturday update from the South Dakota Department of Health showed 55 new cases of COVID-19 along with two new deaths.

The new deaths were reported out of Yankton and Beadle county.

Pennington County had six new cases today, sending their cumulative total to 630 with 146 active cases. The number of active cases in Pennington County is down two from Friday.

Lawrence County also had a new case Saturday, their first case in over a week. Butte County also reported a new case sending their active caseload to 3.

Oglala Lakota County reported one new case, sending their cumulative total to 109 with 32 active cases.

Perkins County also reported their first new case today.

The active caseload statewide is down nine today to 875. There are 65 people hospitalized as of today – unchanged from Friday.

There were no new cases today in Meade County and the active number of cases remained at 7.
