SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The electoral process in South Dakota is on track for a November 3 general election despite President Donald Trump’s suggestion that it could be delayed.
The Secretary of State’s office says it is planning to open absentee voting on September 18 and operate polling stations on November 3.
During the state’s primary elections on June 2, over half of voters cast their ballots through absentee voting.
Secretary of State Steve Barnett encouraged mail-in voting by sending absentee applications to all registered voters.
South Dakota’s Republican congressional delegation also rebuffed Trump’s suggestion.
