Fire crews join Rockerville in knocking down Sunday wildland fire threatening structure

ROCKERVILLE, S.D. – The Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department reports a wildfire Sunday threatened a structure.

According to a Facebook post from the department, crews were paged to a wildland fire threatening a structure on Strato Rim Road just after 2:00 p.m.

Due to the fire danger, Rockerville requested a second alarm.

Crews from the U.S. Forest Service arrived and helped Rockerville get a quick knock down on the fire and save the structure.

Units on scene in addition to the Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department included USFS, State Wildland Fire, Whispering Pines, VFD, and Pennington County Sheriff.

The Rockerville Department stated “Thanks to all our mutual aid resources who responded. We know most of you were up all night on other fires as well.”

There was no word on cause of the fire.
