Friday search for Serenity turns up no trace of the young girl

News Staff - April 19, 2019

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Pennington County Sheriff's Office conducted another search for a missing 9-year-old girl Friday without any luck.

Serenity Dennard hasn't been seen since running away from the Black Hills Children's Home near Rockerville on February 3.

Although it's been two and a half months now, authorities say they are not giving up.

On Friday, 52 searchers from 10 different agencies covered several areas combing the rough terrain for any sign of Serenity. Two dog teams from Colorado also participated in Friday's search.

Officials say they have plotted out several areas she could have gone based on her size, age, the weather, and the terrain. They have officially cleared four of those areas.

The main focus of Friday's search was the area north of the Children's Homes. In addition to the search crews, they also brought in two dog teams from Colorado.

Officials say they have not ruled out any possibilities at this time, and their investigation into her disappearance remains very active.
