Gillette sweeps Sturgis in Tuesday night double header

STURGIS, S.D. - The Gillette Riders took two from Sturgis at Strong Field in a Tuesday night doubleheader.

In game one, Gillette jumped out to a 12-0 lead after two innings, and threatened to end the game early.

But, Sturgis would fight back, scoring 3 in the fourth and one in the fifth to force a sixth and seventh inning. Gillette would add an extra run in the sixth to put the game away in a 14-5 victory.

Bode Rivenes got the pitching win for Gillette, striking out six in three innings of play.

Chase Reimer helped lead the Riders offensively, going four for four and scoring 3 runs. Matt Newlin went three for four and scored 2 runs.

For Sturgis, Cedrick Stabber went 3 for 4 from the plate and David Anderson was 2 for 4 and scoring a run.

In game two, Gillette scored 5 in the first inning and 4 in the fourth before scoring another run in the fifth, putting the game away 10-0 in five innings.

Caleb Driskill was 2 for 3 with 2 runs and Cole Swisher also scored 2 runs to help lead Gillette.

Brody Richardson got the pitching win for the Riders.

Sturgis only had 3 hits in the game two as they were shut out
