H.P. Releases Names In Fall River County Fatal Crash

OELRICHS, S.D. – A Glencoe, OK woman has been identified as the person who died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon south of Oelrichs.

A 2017 GMC Sierra pickup was southbound on U.S. Highway 385 when it rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was towing a fifth-wheel trailer loaded with hay. When the two vehicles collided, the trailer pushed forward into the back of the Chevrolet.

Patsy Newman, the 71-year-old female passenger of the Sierra pickup,  was airlifted to a Rapid City hospital where she died as a result of her injuries. Robert Newman of Glencoe, OK, who was 72-year-old male driver, received serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Hot Springs hospital.

Both occupants of the Silverado pickup – the 50-year-old female driver and 53-year-old male passenger – suffered minor injuries. They later went to the Hot Springs hospital by private vehicle. They were identified as Susan Egly and Roger Egly, both of Oerlichs, S.D.

All four people involved were wearing seat belts. Charges are pending for both drivers.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
