Health Department reports 66 new COVID-19 cases Thursday and two new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health reported 66 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths in their Thursday report.

One new death was a man and one was a woman. The age range for both deaths was 80+ years-old. One was listed in Pennington County and one was listed in Lake County.  Pennington County now has 25 deaths related to COVID-19. The state total is now 121.

As for new cases, Pennington County reported 9 new positive tests today. Thee are 139 active cases in Pennington, down four from Wednesday.  The county’s cumulative total is 765.

Meade County had three new positive COVID-19 tests to report. The cumulative total in Meade rises to 63 and here are now 8 active cases. That is up one from Wednesday with two new recoveries also being reported.

And, Lawrence County reported two new cases Thursday. Lawrence now has 4 active cases with a cumulative total of 26.

The statewide active caseload rose 9 Thursday to 808 cases. There are 50 people hospitalized – that number is down six from Wednesday.
