Hearing for teen charged in girl’s shooting death continued to May

STURGIS, S.D. – A scheduled day long hearing to determine whether or not the case against a teenager charged with murder goes to juvenile court was postponed Friday..

Michael Gavin Campbell, 17, is charged with alternate counts of first and second-degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Shayna Ritthaler of Upton, Wyoming.

Ritthaler’s body was found in Campbell’s Blucksberg Estates home near Sturgis on October 7th.

Campbell’s defense team is attempting to transfer his case to juvenile court. He is currently being charged as an adult, thus the release of his name.
