Highway Patrol says one person dead in Corson County crash

MCLAUGHLIN, S.D. – One woman died early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash south of McLaughlin.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. She was the only person involved.

A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was southbound on South Dakota Highway 63 when the 35-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
