Larry Joe Bury, 58, of Spearfish, SD passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.

He was born on July 5, 1960 in Spearfish to Duane and Phyllis Bury and was the youngest of 3 boys. He grew up and lived most of his entire life in Spearfish. He married Robin Fitzgerald on June 30, 1984 and together, they had two children. Robin passed away on July 20, 2013. He worked at Spearfish Pellet Company (formerly Pope and Talbot) for a total of 32 years; and was a Pellet System Operator for the last 12 years. Larry always took ownership of any job he performed, and he did them well. He enjoyed being around the other crew members, was a great practical joker, and almost always had a smile on his face. He loved his co-workers.

On August 17, 2018, he married Maria “Cora” de los Reyes Goodvin in Spearfish. Larry was a very good man. He was a compassionate and generous person. He loved his family so much and spent most of his spare time helping them out with just about anything. He was a boy scout master for several years in Spearfish. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and driving his jeep along the canyon and on the hills. Larry and Cora have a favorite spot along Spearfish Canyon that they cherish and enjoy spending time together. Larry had a strong faith in God and had surrendered his life to Jesus.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cora; son, Tyler; daughter, Alyssa; stepchildren, Carlo (Sheryll) Lauzon, June (Carlo) Claudio, Carla (JM) Ilagan and Joann (Paolo) de Guzman; granddaughter, Grace and nine step-grandchildren; parents, Duane and Phyllis Bury; brothers, Randy (Velma) Bury, Ken (Beth) Bury, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2019 with a viewing that starts at 10am at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 240 Old US Hwy 14, Spearfish, SD with Pastor Mark Chaplin officiating. Larry had requested for the service to be simple with no suits to be worn. Per Larry’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be spread at a later date at Hanna Campground.
