Man on tractor killed crossing train track

BILLINGS, Mont. (The Billings Gazette) — Officials in northeastern Montana have released the name of the individual who was fatally struck by a passenger train.

Roosevelt County officials say 65-year-old Rocky Lee Norby of Sidney died on impact Friday. The Amtrak train collided with Norby’s tractor while he was crossing the tracks on US Highway 2 near Bainville. The impact of the crash knocked some of the Amtrak cars off the tracks, but they remained upright. A small fire broke out as a result of the crash.

All 64 passengers aboard the train had injuries. Three crew members and a passenger were treated for injuries at a local hospital. The tracks were repaired over the weekend.
