North Dakota oil production drops slightly in June

The Associated Press - August 17, 2018

BISMARCK, N.D. - North Dakota's oil production in June slid slightly from a record set the month prior due to drillers scaling back to keep natural gas flaring from exceeding state limits.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the state produced an average of nearly 1.23 million barrels of oil daily in June, down from the May record of nearly 1.25 million barrels.

Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms says operators voluntarily restricted oil production to stay in compliance with the gas capture policy, which calls for companies to capture 85 percent of natural gas.

Natural gas production decreased about 1 percent in June to an average of 2.3 billion cubic feet per day.

The June tallies are the latest figures available.
