DEADWOOD, S.D. – The owner of the Saloon #10 in Deadwood has responded to Monday’s news from the Department of Health that two of its employees had tested positive for COVID-19.
The Health Department had stated that the two employees went to work ill and were asking anyone who visited the establishment between March 18 and March 21 to self-monitor for symptoms.
The Saloon #10 closed on March 21.
Owner Louie LaLonde in a social media post wondered why their business was singled out by the health department.
LaLonde said it has caused additional hardship for her employees and families and they are being harassed online.
LaLonde says if the notification from the Department of Health was out of concern for public safet, theyn the public needs to know where all the other positive cases work and where they’ve been while contagious.
LaLonde says the two employees who tested positive are feeling beeter and on their wayto a full recovery.
According to LaLonde, the entire Saloon #10 staff has been in self-quarantine to date and instructed to remain that way until April 4th.
