Pennington County reports 17 new cases of COVID-19; Meade County 5

PIERRE, S.D. – The department of health recorded 94 new positive tests for COVID-19 in their Saturday report along with three new deaths.

One of those deaths was in Pennington, who saw an increase of 17 new cases today. Pennington’s cumulative total is now 218 and they have 160 active cases.

In Meade County, an additional five new positive cases were part of the Saturday update. Meade now has 18 cumulative and 12 active cases. The department of health reports no new hospitalizations in Meade County but the statewide total is 93 today, down 2 from Friday.

Oglala Lakota County recorded an additional four new cases for a cumulative total of 25 and 19 active cases.

Other new cases West River today included three in Todd County, one in Jackson County and one in Lyman County.

Active cases across the state are up 30 today to 1,093. The state’s cumulative COVID-19 total is now 4,960.

The state’s death toll is now 62. Along with the new death reported in Pennington County were two new deaths in hard hit Beadle County.

An additional 61 people have recovered from the virus, bringing the statewide total number of recovered to 3,805.
