MOBRIDGE, S.D. – Authorities in Corson County announced a recent drug bust resulted in the seizure of 17 pounds of marijuana.
Corson County deputies seized the pot during a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. on June 18 on U.S. Highway 12 in Corson County. The Corson County Sheriff’s office says Deputy Mark Bilben made the traffic stop.
According to the Corson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies requested assistance from a K9 unit located in Mobridge during the traffic stop. The K9 team, led by Mobridge Police Department officer Nate Pepin, indicated the presence of marijuana in the vehicle.
Investigators say they found 17 pounds of marijuana during the ensuing search. The drugs were being transported from the West Coast to Aberdeen, authorities said. The street value of the marijuana is estimated at $51,000, according to a social media post by authorities.
A 38-year-old man from Pooler, Georgia was arrested on a number of charges, including resisting arrest and marijuana-related charges.
Corson County is encompassed within the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, which extends into North Dakota.
