Post 22 opens Firecracker with win over Rocky Mountain

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 opened the annual Firecracker Tournament Wednesday with a 9-4 win over Rocky Mountain.

Rocky Mountain opened up the scoring with three runs in the first inning including a home run by Joel Anderson.

But the Hardhats answered with a 2 R.B.I. double from Blake Weaver in the bottom of the first.

Then Post 22 grabbed the lead for good in the third inning, scoring two runs. The Hardhats would add 2 more runs in the fourth and fifth.

Jake Goble took the win for Post 22. He allowed five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out seven.

Peyton Tipton and Colton Hartford each had two hits for the Hardhats. Goble also added 3 R.B.I.’s.

Post 22 returns to action on Thursday with a doubleheader.
