Scooper boys, Hill City girls win team titles at BH Confernce Cross Country meet

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper boys and Hill City girls claimed team championships at the Black Hills Conference Cross Country meet at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs Thursday.

The Scooper boys finished on top of the team standings with 48 points. St Thomas More finished second and Custer finished third.

Winning the boys race was Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche in a time of 15:57.20. Cody Farland of St Thomas More was second in a time of 16:30.76. Custer’s Miles Ellman finished in third.

The Scoopers had three runners in the top ten, including Morgan Papenfuss at 7th, Ray Henderson in 8th and Traeton Monahan in tenth.

In the girls race, Hill City won the team title with 31 points. Custer was second, Spearfish came in third and Sturgis was fourth.

Winning the race was Abby Cutler of Hill City, finishing in a time of 19:33.67. Custer’s Kadense Dooley was second and her teammate Ramsey Karim placed third.

Iris Zylstra of Sturgis came in fifth.
