Semifinal rounds complete at the State A and B Wrestling Tournament

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The State A individual matches wrapped up Friday afternoon with the completion of the semifinals.

AT 106, Jack Schoenhard dropped his semifinal match to Quincy Hulverson of Tea Area, a 5-2 decision. Schoenhard will wrestle for third place Saturday.

At 113, Kaden Olson of Sturgis is off to the championship with an 8-2 decision over Jordon Oehme of Brandon Valley. Olson will wrestle Brenden Salfrank of Aberdeen Central for the championship.

At 120, Rapid City Central’s Cael Larson advances to the championship match with a hard fought win over Connor Eimers of Tea Area. He will wrestle Alex Mentzer of Sioux Falls Lincoln.

At 138, Max Sailor of Spearfish will wrestle for the championship against Declan Malone of Rapid City Stevens. Sailor advanced with a 1-0 decision over Tyson Johnson of Pierre. Malone advances with an 8-4 decision over Jaxson Waugh of Watertown.

At 145, TJ Morrison of Rapid City Central is headed to the championship with a 7-5 decision over Logan Serck of Beresford/Alcester-Hudson. Morrison will wrestle Lucas Anglin of Vermillion for the championship.

At 152, Brayden Burrus drops his semifinal to Eli Kadoun of Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Burrus will wrestle for third place on Saturday.

At 160, Cooper Voorhees of Stevens is headed to the championship round with a technical fall win over Remington Rossow of Chamberlain. He will wrestle Madison’s Colby Mennis for the championship.

At 170, in the a semifinal matchup featuring two Rapid City athletes, Caleb Brink of Rapid City Stevens defeats Wyatt Jungclaus of Central. Brink will wrestle Tyson Lien of Huron for the championship.

At 220, Ryan Brink will wrestle for the championship with a semifinal win over Owen Warren of Yankton. He will wrestle Navarro Schunke of Brandon Valley.

Meanwhile, as the Class B Tournament:

The championship matches are set after the semifinals wrapped up Friday afternoon at the State B Wrestling tournament.

At 106 pounds, Custer’s Logan Graf is headed to the championship match with a win over Porter Neugebauer of Parkston. He will wrestle Gunnar Kvistad of Clark/Willow Lake.

At 126, Philip’s Jaydn Coller has a shot at the championship. He defeated Jackson Remmers of McCook Central-Monstrose in a 5-2 decision. He wrestles Kaden Keiser of Winner for the championship.

Custer’s Micaiah Grace will wrestle in the 170 pound championship after winning his semifinal. Grace defeated Blake Gessner of McCook Central-Montrose in a fall at 3:42. He will wrestle Canton’s Shaden Scheidt for the championship.

At 195, Philip’s Cody Donnelly advances to the championship match with an 11-4 decision over Jordan Gall of Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon. He will wrestle Canton’s Cullen Rutten for the championship.

At 220, Marcus Harkless of Hot Springs will wrestle for third place following a semifinal loss to Canton’s Marshall Baldwin.

Championship matches are Saturday night.

In the team standings, in Class A, Brandon Valley has taken over the top spot with 130 points. Stevens is right behind with 128 and Watertown is third with 98.5. Pierre is fourth and RC Central is fifth. Sturgis sits in eighth place.

In the B standings, Canton is on top with 199.5 points and Winner is second with 138. Burke/Gregory is third with 71 and Refield in fourth with 70.5. Philip is fifth with 68.5. Custer sits in seventh place.
