South Dakota Class A Boys Basketball - day one wrapup

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Pine Ridge picked up a first round win in Sioux Falls as the South Dakota Class A Boys Basketball Tournament got underway.

The Thorpes beat Hot Springs 75-51 to spoil the first tournament appearance for the Bison in over four decades.

Corey Brown and Charles Schrader led Pine Ridge with 14 points each.

Morgan Harkless led Hot Springs with 17 points.

Pine Ridge will play Tea Area Friday night in the semifinals. Tea punched their ticket to the semifinals by beating Dell Rapids 81-38.

In other scores, Sioux Falls Christian beat Madison 63-46 and Lennox beat St Thomas More 48-40.

Lennox jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and used a 12-4 run in the third to escape with the win.

Caden Casey led St Thomas More with 14 points.

The Cavaliers will play Madison in the consolation semifinals Friday.
