South Dakota Corn and Sorghum Stocks Down Double Digits

UNDATED - South Dakota corn stocks in all positions on September 1, 2018 totaled 117 million bushels, down 14 percent from 2017, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 56.0 million bushels are stored on farms, down 14 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 61.2 million bushels, are down 15 percent from last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 21.1 million bushels, up 19 percent from last year. Onfarm stocks are 7.00 million bushels, up 17 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 14.1 million bushels, are up 20 percent from 2017.

All wheat stored in all positions totaled 87.5 million bushels, up 22 percent from a year ago. Onfarm stocks of 40.5 million bushels are up 45 percent from 2017 and off-farm stocks of 47.0 million bushels are up 8 percent from last year.

Sorghum off-farm stocks totaled 246,000 bushels, down 50 percent from 2017.

Oats stored in all positions totaled 6.74 million bushels, up 41 percent from last year. On-farm stocks of 4.90 million bushels are up 69 percent from 2017. Off-farm stocks of 1.84 million bushels are down 2 percent from last year.

Barely off-farm stocks totaled 5,000 bushels.
