State A Wrestling Consolation Rounds complete

Gary Matthews - February 29, 2020

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The consolation rounds wrapped up Saturday afternoon as the State A Wrestling Tournament in Sioux Falls prepared for championship matches Saturday night.

Several area athletes were involved in the wrestlebacks, hoping to make it to the medal stand.

At 106 pounds, Evan Osborn of Sturgis worked his way to a matchup with Watertown’s Weston Everson. Everson got the victory, sending him on for a chance for third place and Osborn wrestled for a seventh place finish. Osborn would get that spot on a tough, 1-0 decision win over another fellow west river athlete; Josh Hoffman of Spearfish.

Grabbing third place at 106 was Rapid City Steven’s Jack Schoenhard, with a 6-0 decision win over Blake Judson of Pierre.

At 120 pounds, Kelton Olson was also a match away from wrestling for a possible third place finish, however Connor Eimers of Tea Area had other plans and got the win, sending Olson on to the fifth place match where he grabbed that spot with a win over Brayden Siemonsma of West Central. Olson picked up the win on a Fall at 4:50.

At 126 pounds, Clayton Donovan finished in 5th place with a win over Thomas McCoy of Belle Fourche. Darian Malone of Rapid City Stevens wrapped up a nice season with a third place finish on a 12-4 Major Decision over Jacob Vogel of Dell Rapids.

At 138 pounds, Kadyn Kraye of Rapid City Central was a match away from a third place attempt, but fell to Aaron Ideker of Sioux Falls O’Gorman. Not to be deterred, Kraye headed into the fifth place match, where he dropped a tough 7-4 decision to Tyson Johnson of Pierre – taking home sixth place.

At 145 pounds, Tyler Voorhees of Stevens brought home sixth place after an 11-2 decision loss to Logan Serch of Beresford/Alcester-Hudson.
