State reports 201 new cases of COVID-19, Meade County sees second death in as many days

STURGIS, S.D. – Health officials reports an additional 201 new cases of COVID-19 in the Sunday report, although active cases saw a decrease of 54. 

The statewide active caseload dropped from 2,515 on Saturday to 2,461 Sunday. However, hospitalizations increased by one to 110.

There was also one new death reported. The new death was a male in the 80+ age range in Meade County. It is the third death reported out of Meade County and the second this weekend.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 29 new cases, sending the cumulative total to 1,795 with 320 active. Active cases are down 5 in Pennington County Sunday.

Meade County added 6 new cases, giving the county a total of 384 with 79 remaining  active. Active cases in Meade are down 2 Sunday.

Lawrence County had 3 new cases, sending the total to 286 with 62 active cases. The active caseload in Lawrence is down 7.

Other new cases around the Black Hills region today include 3 in Oglala Lakota, 2 in Fall River and one in Custer counties.

In all, there were 56 of the 201 new cases West River.

There was 1,347 new persons tested reported on Sunday.
