STURGIS, S.D. – The owners of a long running bakery and donut shop in Sturgis says they will not reopen after a fire heavily damaged the business in August.

In a Facebook post, the owners of Weimer’s Diner and Donuts say they will not rebuild.

“This has been a very hard decision but due to the circumstances it is the best,” the post says.

The family thanked their customers and friends throughout the years.

“Thru out my life it has been you, my customers,my friends,my family that made want to come to work each day.You have always been loyal and understanding.  Although I will miss each and everyone of you,I will have years of wonderful memories . Thank you everyone for your thoughts, your prayers and financial support during this difficult time.I have been truly blessed.
God Bless each and every one of you !!”

The early morning fire on August 19 was sparked by an old extension cord leading to a freezer according to fire investigators. The fire was ruled accidental.
