Sturgis cruises past Spearfish, Belle Fourche at Scull Tournament

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Titans remained undefeated at the Jim Scull Tournament Saturday with two wins.

In their first game of the day, the Titans took a 5-2 lead over Spearfish in the first inning and never looked back — scoring 9 runs in the fifth to win 17-6.

David Anderson had another huge game for Sturgis, leading the way with 3 hits and 4 R.B.I.’s. Dylan Gillespie added 2 hits and 2 R.B.I.’s.

In the second game, the Titans rolled over Belle Fourche 10-0 in five innings. Sturgis scored 4 runs in the second, 1 run in the third and 5 runs in the fourth.

Thor Sundstrom helped lead Sturgis with 2 hits and 2 R.B.I.’s.

Zach Hess got the pitching win, going the full five innings and striking out three.

The Titans earn a trip to the Scull Tournament championship game Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p,m, at Pete Lien Field.
