Titans shut out Newcastle

Sturgis routs Newcastle at home tourney

STURGIS, S.D. - Sturgis scored early for a second night in a row, and rolled to a 13-0 win over Newcastle at their home baseball tourney Saturday night.

The Titans jumped on the Dogies early, scoring four runs in the first. But, it was the fourth inning that put the game away as Sturgis scored 8 runs to end it in five.

David Anderson led the Titans' offensive onslaught, going 2 for 3, with 4 R.B.I.'s. Ridge Inhofer added 3 hits and scored 3 runs and Dylan Gillespie also had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Zach Hess finished 2 for 4, with an R.B.I. and a run.

Devin Odle added 2 runs for the Titans and Tristan Walter also came across for a run.

Colton Cruickshank got the pitching start, striking out 3. Devin Odle finished off the Dogies with 5 strikeouts.

Sturgis held Newcastle to just 2 hits.

In other scores at Saturday's tournament, Douglas beat Newcastle in the day's first game 10-8, Lander defeated Wheatland 14-10 in game two and then fell to Billings 16-6 in the third game of the day.

Sunday's games will feature Newcastle vs Wheatland at 10:00 a.m., Douglas vs Lander at noon and Sturgis plays Billings at 2:30 for the championship.
