Teachers Parade being held in Sturgis Wednesday

STURGIS, S.D. – Teachers in Sturgis will get the chance to see their students — from a safe distance — as a special parade is being planned for Wednesday, April 8.

The vehicle parade begins a 1:00 p.m. and will begin at the Elementary School on Ball Park Road.

The purpose of the parade is to allow teachers the ability to interact with students from a safe distance. The teachers will all be in vehicles as they drive through the neighborhoods. Kids and parents are encouraged to make signs to hold up as the teachers drive by.

Social distancing is required and those attending the parade are asked to NOT congregate in crowds along the route.

Instead, parade organizers urge people to choose a location where there is space to spread out.

First responders will also take part in the parade with lights activated and occasional sirens.
