Three children escape serious injury after car rear ends school bus

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Three children escaped serious injury when their school bus was rear ended by a passenger car.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 3:28 Tuesday afternoon, deputies responded to an injury accident on Nemo Road involving a passenger vehicle that had rear-ended a Rapid City Area School bus.

There were three children in addition to the bus driver on the school bus at the time of the accident. The children range in age from 7-10 years old.

One child sustained non-life threatening injuries and all three children were treated at the scene and released to their parents.

The Driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to Monument hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was also cited for Failure to Stop for a School Bus.

Agencies that responded were the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Doty Fire Department
