Tyler F. Trohkimoinen was born to Bob and Sheryl Trohkimoinen on December 15, 1977. He was raised on the family farm near Vale, SD, with his older siblings, Toby and Jill.  He graduated from Believers Fellowship Academy in 1996.

     Tyler met the love of his life, Jill O’Grady, and they were married on May 18, 2002.  Tyler and Jill welcomed their firstborn, Wyatt, on July 2, 2003. Their son, Tel, was born on October 9, 2004.

     Tyler had many jobs over the years, including home building/construction in Kansas City.  He moved back to the Black Hills area and worked in home building, as well as at Ridley Block in Whitewood for 15 years.  Tyler also served as the Butte County Emergency Manager.  Tyler worked and managed the family farm, and was a bus driver for Harlow Bus Company.  One of the highlights for him was chauffeuring the Sturgis wrestlers to their meets.  Tyler was an active member of the Vale volunteer fire department for many years.  He also served on the Newell School Board for one term.  Tyler enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, snow skiing, backpacking, and being with his family.  He was an active father who adored his boys and being a part of their many activities. 

     Tyler, 41, Vale, passed suddenly of a heart attack on February 9, 2019.  He is beloved by his family, neighbors, and the school and wrestling communities of Newell and Sturgis.  Tyler’s heart was huge and his life made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

     Tyler is survived by his mother, Sheryl (Guptill) Trohkimoinen; his wife, Jill Trohkimoinen; sons, Wyatt and Tel; sister, Jill (Trohkimoinen) St. John, and brother-in-law, Jason St. John; niece, Ezri St. John; nephew, Alec St. John; brother, Toby Trohkimoinen, and sister-in-law, Laura (Johnson) Trohkimoinen; niece, Ashley Schroyer, and her husband, Patrick, and children, Hayes and Ramey; niece, April Stewart, and her husband, Logan, and daughter, Ava; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, loving in-&-out-laws, and friends.

     Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Mabel Trohkimoinen; maternal grandparents, Francis and Wanda Guptill; and his father, Bob Trohkimoinen.

     Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, at Believers Fellowship Church in Sturgis with Pastor Jason St. John officiating.  Burial will follow at the Vale Cemetery.

     A memorial has been established for an educational fund for his children.
