WATERTOWN, S.D. – Fourth seeded Aberdeen Roncalli pulled off yet another stunner at this year’s girls state basketball tournaments Friday.
The Roncalli Lady Cavaliers knocked off heavily favored and top seeded St Thomas More 36-35 to punch their ticket to Saturday night’s championship game.
Junior Olivia Hanson stepped to the free throw line for Roncalli with just one second left and her team facing a one point deficit. She calmly knocked down both shots and her Lady Cavaliers stunned the Lady Cavaliers of St Thomas More.
Haleigh Timmer had a splendid game for St Thomas More, scoring 27 of the 35 points for the Cavaliers.
Roncalli advances to the State A Girls Championship game Saturday night. They will play Hamlin, who upset second seeded Winner 43-37.
