PIEDMONT, S.D. – As traffic continues to increase ahead of the official start of the motorcycle rally, law enforcement remain busy responding to accidents.
The latest crash took place Tuesday night.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the two-vehicle crash that occurred just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night on Interstate 90 near Piedmont.
Preliminary information shows that a Harley-Davidson trike, traveling westbound on I-90, began to hydroplane. The trike traveled into the median and then the eastbound lane before colliding head on with a Nissan Murano.
The 73-year-old male rider was thrown from the trike and suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Nissan Murano was wearing a seat belt and suffered no injuries.
