Account being set up to help mail carrier hurt in accident

STURGIS, S.D. – Friends of a mail carrier injured in a rollover this week are setting up an account to help defray expenses.

According to a social media post, Jewel Oehlerking was seriously hurt in the accident that happened in rural Meade County earlier this week.

An account to help Oehlerking is being set up at First Interstate Bank in Sturgis. They anticipate the account to be reading sometime next week. Oehlerking remains in the hospital in Rapid City recovering from her injuries.

The crash happened on Alkali Road where law enforcement and area landowners gathered to help collect the mail that had fallen out of the mail carrier’s vehicle.
