Active cases drop, hospitalizations up a bit in Thursday COVID-19 report

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Health reported 126 new cases of COVID-19 in their Thursday report.

Active cases have dropped to 5,656 and the number of people hospitalized saw an increase today to 179. That is up 8 from Wednesday’s report.

Four new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,788.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County recorded 21 new cases Thurday, Lawrence County added 9 and there were 4 new cases out of Meade County.

Elsewhere, Custer and Fall River County reported 2 new cases each and there was one new cases in Butte and Oglala Lakota.
