PIERRE, S.D. – Active cases have jumped to 7,752 and hospitalizations rose by 17 in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.
Health officials reported 627 new cases, with 203 of those listed as probable.
Hospitalizations saw a double digit increase for the first time since early November, going from 250 Tuesday to 267 today.
Nine new deaths were included in the latest report, sending the state’s death toll to 2,384. Of the new deaths, one was reported out of Lawrence County. Another was listed in Butte County.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County had 47 new cases with 8 of those considered as probable cases.
Meade County had 10 confirmed cases and one probable and Lawrence County reported 10 confirmed, new cases.
Elsewhere, Butte County listed 8 new cases, Oglala Lakota added 21, Fall River County tallied 6 and Custer County had 3.
