Alvin Lloyd Walker

Alvin Lloyd Walker was born in Belle Fourche, SD May 7th, 1934, the first born of William K. Walker and Eunice I. Clem Walker. Alvin was taken home to the Finger Buttes Ranch north of Alzada, Montana, where he spent his youth and young adulthood. Alvin passed away in Phoenix, AZ on August, 24th, 2023 with loved ones by his side.

Alvin attended the Finger Buttes grade school in Carter County Montana for all eight grades, riding back and forth most of the time. He attended High School in Broadus, Montana, Belle Fourche, SD and graduated from High School in Spearfish, SD. He worked with his parents on the ranch raising sheep and cattle for many years. He traveled all over the western United States, into Canada and Mexico. Alvin was a master Mason in the Belle Fourche, SD chapter.

Alvin and Barbara Fardig were united in marriage April, 20th, 1958 in Belle Fourche, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April, 2023. Their daughter Dallerie J. Walker Riesland (Raymond) was born May, 18th 1959. Their son Kenneth L. Walker was born July, 7th, 1962.

Alvin and Barb spent their early married life on the family ranch or working for neighboring ranches.  Alvin worked various construction jobs, including working on the missile silos that were installed in Western, SD. There was not a piece of farm or construction equipment that Alvin could not operate. He got his pilot license, flying his Piper Cub was a great joy. Needing a backhoe for a project on the ranch, Alvin leased one and as he was driving it home, he had a few neighbors call him and ask him to do projects for them. Thus Finger Buttes Construction was born. Alvin and Barb worked all over Eastern Montana, NW South Dakota, SW North Dakota and NW Wyoming. They installed miles and miles of water lines for livestock.

In 1989 the sold out there construction business and moved to California where they managed mobile home parks. Eventually they transferred to a large mobile home park in Thorton, CO. In 2004 they and their adult children purchased a mobile home park in Gering, NE. Alvin and Barb lived there and managed the park with Ken until it was sold in 2022. They traveled around for a bit before buying a lot to settle on in Concho, AZ.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Barb, his daughter Dallerie and Son-in-law Raymond Riesland, his son Kenneth Walker. His grandchildren, Dallerie’s childern, Nikole (Simon) Haumont, Flint Riesland, Jade (Jake) Atkinson and Kenneth’s children, Katelynn Scott, Emily Rose and Dakota Mae. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Lincoln Haumont, Adelyn and Paden Atkinson.  Brothers David Walker, Bill (Janet) Walker, and sister Bonnie (Roger) Ballou. Alvin is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William K. Walker, Eunice Walker, brother Ronald M. Walker, sister-in-laws Sandra Walker and Janice Walker, several uncles, aunts and cousins.
