Amber Alert for two children taken out of Canada cancelled after arrest in South Dakota

STURGIS, S.D. – An Amber Alert that was issued in South Dakota for two children taken by their non-custodial mother out of Canada was cancelled after an arrest was made in western South Dakota.

The Meade County Sheriff’s Office reports the children have been recovered safely and the suspects taken into custody.

The two endangered children, age 7 and 8, were believed to be traveling with their non-custodial mother and companion, identified as 50-year-old Benjamin Moore.

An Amber Alert was issued in South Dakota after it was believed the couple had traveled to South Dakota with the children.

The Meade County Sheriff’s Office credited teamwork with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Sturgis Police Department for the successful conclusion of the investigation.
