Annual Festival of Trees raises money for good causes

STURGIS, S.D. – It was a packed house at the First Interstate Bank in Sturgis Friday night as the Festival of Trees celebrated its 25th year.

A $5.00 entry fee this year was donated to the local food pantry and the annual auction raises money for hospice of the Northern Hills and the Greater Sturgis Area Foundation Permanent Endowment Fund.

Event organizer Rosemary Roth tells KBHB “this is such a wonderful opportunity for the community to step in and make a big difference and show how giving back can be for everyone in the community.”

For her many years of dedicated work to the Festival, Roth was honored this year, who said “it’s a team effort to make the annual event so successful year after year.”

Up for auction this year were beautiful trees, wreaths, decorations and more. The event also featured a silent auction with donated gifts from local businesses.

Last year, the Festival of Trees raised $50,000.
