STURGIS, S.D. – The annual Sturgis Scooper Football awards ceremony was held Monday night at the Sturgis Community Center.
The annual get together honors the season’s outstanding athletes.
Winning Offensive Player of the Year was Sandan Graham, who had a spectacular season for the Scooper Football squad in 2020.
Graham was also honored by being selected to South Dakota Class AA Football All State team.
Ben Eberhard won Offensive Lineman of the Year and Jarrod Duran picked up the Defensive Lineman of the Year. Duran was also awarded the prestigious Character Matters Competitor of the Year.
Winning Most Valuable Linebacker was Talon Elshere and Kaiden Phillips was awarded Most Valuable Defensive Back.
Special Teams Player of the Year was awarded to Kicker/Punter Brodie Eisenbraun and Owen Cass received Most Improved Player of the year.
Thayne Elshere received the Scout Team Player of the Year and Zak Juelfs got Rookie of the Year.
Winning the Doug Miller Award for 2020 was Wren Jacobs.
Four Scoopers were selected by the South Dakota High School Football Coaches Association to the All State team. Along with Graham, Wren Jacobs, Talon Elshere and Brodie Eisenbraun were selected.
