RAPID CITY – Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell has secured a space for its new nursing program at a Monument Health location in Rapid City.
The Rapid City program will be offered for an Associate of Science degree with no LPN license required for enrolling students. Offered year-round for 24 months, graduates will earn a two-year RN degree at the end of their program and with a passing score on the required state licensing exam.
High school graduates or those wishing to pursue a nursing career may enroll in the program whether they have health care experience or not. Classes begin in August 2024.
DWU president Dan Kittle is pleased with the location. “We are looking forward to serving the Rapid City community with our nursing program. We know there is a great need for nurses, and we believe the Black Hills region is a strong market for students. We have a deep tradition of educating nurses and we are eager to do that work in Rapid City with this distinctive two-year option. The added benefit of being located within Monument Health will be great for our students and faculty.”

As part of a recently completed agreement, DWU classes will be offered at Monument Health’s “Turbine Building,” located at 1400 Turbine Drive in Rapid City. Other occupants in the
building include Monument Health’s Human Resources team and their Education and Professional Development team.
