Apartment Fire displaces families in Belle Fourche

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – A Tuesday morning fire damaged an apartment complex in Belle Fourche.

Fire crews were sent to the Lariat Apartments on Elkhorn Street at approximately 4:17 a.m.

The Belle Fourche fire chief stated smoke and flames were coming from the complex’s northeastern corner apartment upon arrival.

Fire crews worked to knock down the fire in the corner unit before continuing to adjacent units to ensure that fire didn’t spread further.

The property within the corner apartment where the fire originated were considered a total loss and the entire eastern unit sustained smoke damage.

The American Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
