GRAND JUNCTION, Col. – Black Hills State men’s basketball fell to RV Colorado Mesa, 80-69 Friday night in its first loss of the 2022-23 season.
The Yellow Jackets (13-1, 7-1 RMAC) battled in their first home game since Dec. 16, but couldn’t cool the Maverick’s 50.8 percent shooting from the field.
Joel Scott finished the night tying a season-high 31 points to go along with seven rebounds and a steal.

Black Hill State University women’s basketball returned home for the first time in four weeks on Friday night, taking on the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks at the Young Center.
Solid shooting from the Yellow Jackets (11-3, 6-2 RMAC) helped them defeat the Mavericks 59-45. Leading in points tonight for BHSU was Niki Van Wyk as she dropped 11 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the field that included a single three-pointer. She was the only Yellow Jacket with double-digit points.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — South Dakota Mines women’s basketball was back home Friday night to play the Griffins from Westminster College.
The Hardrockers would win in a nail-biter 70-69 after being down as much as 10 points during the game. This was the second win in a row for the Rockers.
The Hardrocker Men, in the meantime, pulled off a late win over Westminster, winning 71-68.
Kolten Mortensen lead the Hardrockers with 17 points.
