RAPID CITY, S.D. – Fire crews battled a couple of wildfires over the weekend.
Great Plains Fire Dispatch says the Butte Creek Fire was reported on Old Highway 212 near Newell on Saturday afternoon. The fire burned approximately 480 acres before being contained and controlled Sunday morning.
The fire was listed as human caused.
Another fire burned three acres at the Spearfish Canyon Shooting Range.
The Pit Fire was reported Saturday afternoon and was contained by 8:00 p.m. Saturday night.
It too, was a human caused fire.
