Arraignment held for man charged in fatal hit and run crash

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A man charged in a fatal hit and run crash in Rapid City was arraigned in a Pennington County courtroom Friday afternoon.

Jordan Hare, 27, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of felony hit-and-run resulting in death or injury.

Hare is accused of running over 14-year-old Nevaeh Brave Heart at the intersection of North LaCrosse and East Van Buren. Brave Heart died of her injuries.

Felony hit-and-run is a class six felony, punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a $4,000 dollar fine.

Hare is accused of fleeing the scene after the crash. He was arrested four days later.

Hare is currently free on bail – which was set at $10,000 in the days after his arrest.

He’s scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing at 3 p.m. on Feb. 17
