RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man has been arraigned in circuit court on first-degree murder and first-degree arson charges.
Brent Kertzman, 64, is charged in connection with the death of 54-year-old Julie Fisk in February and setting fire to her home with her body still inside.
Judge Jane Wipf-Peifle set a deadline of mid-May for the prosecution to decide if they will seek the death penalty in the case. Otherwise, Kertzman will face life in prison.
Kertzman is being held in the Pennington County jail without bond.
