RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police have arrested two people after an incident that happened on Thursday morning.
Police say they were called to 3275 Cambell Street at around 7:30 a.m. for a report of an attempted theft of alcohol.
While driving to the location, police learned the suspects were escaping in a car, which promptly got stuck in a snowbank.
Arriving officers found the suspected vehicle, deeply embedded in a snowdrift within the gas station parking lot. Contact was made with the occupants: Serena Andrews, 44, of Rapid City, smelling of alcohol behind the wheel, and Maureen Pease, 45, also from Rapid City.
A DUI investigation revealed both women were unfit to drive.
Andrews was arrested for DUI and an existing parole violation, while Pease faced charges of DUI (second offense) and obstruction. Both were transported to the Pennington County Jail.
