Athletes battle cool, windy weather at annual Track-O-Rama

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Area athletes faced cool, windy conditions at this year’s Track-O-Rama meet held Friday in Rapid City.

On the boys’s side, Jaden Guthmiller of Spearfish scored the 100 meter win with Simeon Birnbaum of Stevens winning the 400 meters. His teammate Grady Loos captured the 800 and Ty Petrocco of Sturgis won the 1,600 meters. Luke Rupert of Hill City won the 3,200.

Ex Douglas Patriot Jason Maciejczak of Pierre won the shot put and discus to capture two events.

Winston Prill of St Thomas More won the pole vault and Madinko Hawley of Stevens won the long jump. Custer’s Kincade Lehman won the triple jump.

On the women’s side, Nya Nishimura of Stevens won the 100 meters and Scooper Novali Dinkins won the 400 meters. Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish captured the 3,200 meters.

Anna Hoffman of Spearfish won the 100-meter hurdles.

In the relay races, Stevens won the 4×200, with Sturgis placing second. Sturgis would capture the 4,×400 title and finish third in the 4×800, which was won by Custer. Hill City won the special medley relay.

Brynn Nelson of Stevens won the javelin throw and her teammate Rebeccat Theis would capture the long jump and the triple jump.
